PATCHWORK and APPLIQUE Softcover Book
Patchwork shapes, history and techniques
Edited by Sarah Parr, Text compiled by Pamela Tubby
Published in USA by Exeter Books
Copyright 1980 by Marshall Cavendish Limited
ISBN 0-89673-059-X, 140 pages
Closer to a textbook (as opposed to a book of patterns), this book explores principles of patchwork and appliqué technique and
design. Many photos of old quilts. Definitely flawed - still a very usable aid for the needlecrafter/designer or quilt historian. Contents include:
American Block Construction, Clamshell, Log Cabin, Mayflower, Crazy Work and Suffolk Puffs
Applique history, Handsewn and machine techniques
Cut paper, Ribbon, San Blas, Applique Perse, Fashion Applique, Furnishing and Picture making
Acceptable used condition with a number of age, use and storage issues: page, page edge and cover discoloration; misc. cover nicks, scratches, etc; general wear and tear etc. PLUS glued-on cover has separated from the body of the book and is in need of repair. PLUS binding glue is sloppy and unstable throughout. PLUS unknown stain (coffee??) on upper-left back cover permeates approx. 40 page corners into the book (starting at the back cover, stain lessens as the pages go on). Priced accordingly
Estate item, previous use and storage conditions unknown
